For our first ever Venue Spotlight – Glastonbury Hills Country Club! Glastonbury Hills Country Club is not only a Country Club space but also a Wedding & Event space! This amazing establishment is located in South Glastonbury, CT!

We took some time to chat with Allison, a banquet coordinator of GHCC! Here is what she had to say:

1. Tell us a bit about yourself! What is your favorite part about your job at Glastonbury Hills? How did you get started at Glastonbury Hills? What is your background/past jobs that prepared you for your position at Glastonbury Hills?

I started working at GHCC as a part time server in 2012. Prior to working at GHCC I worked as a waitress/hostess in high school at a local restaurant. While in school I was always volunteering to be on all of the dance committees and my senior year I was extremely involved in planning our prom. Following high school I have had many corporate jobs that required a lot of customer service both over the phone and in person. I found that once I started working at GHCC I felt rewarded. My boss was quick to see my passion and eventually I was promoted to one of the banquet coordinators. The great thing about GHCC is that it is family owned and operated. Many of the employees are related to one another or have family connections. I’m not related but I feel as though I am a part of a family at GHCC. My favorite part of my job is that I get to be of assistance to couples on one of the most special days of their lives.

2. What makes Glastonbury Hills unique?

The renovated 19th century main house is rich in architectural character, and is set on a beautiful championship golf course. Inside the Skyline Room offers unparalleled views of the golf course and surrounding hills from our floor to ceiling windows.

3. What is one thing brides are always happy about with having their Wedding at Glastonbury Hills?

We only host one wedding at a time. The bride doesn’t have to worry about seeing another bride on her special day. This also allows the bride to be more at ease knowing that all of our attention is on their reception.

4. What Wedding Trends have you been seeing for 2023 & 2024 Weddings?

Streamlined wedding ceremonies. Couples have not been pairing up bridesmaids and groomsmen but rather have the groomsmen enter with the groom and then the bridesmaids process in. During the recessional the married couple exits followed by all of the bridesmaids and then followed by all of the groomsman. No need to pair up individuals that may not have even met until that day. Also couples are discovering that less is more and that the more extra things you do/add the more stressed out you will become. Our facility is beautiful by itself and the food is amazing. Guests are guaranteed to have a memorable time with friends and family.

5. What makes working with us at Brian Ambrose Photography enjoyable?

They are familiar with the banquet management staff and how all of our events are coordinated. They are extremely familiar with the grounds and the areas in which photos are allowed to be taken. This allows for an extremely efficient process for photo talking. The staff at Brian Ambrose Photography has the ability to know where they plan on taking each of the photos well in advance.
