Connecticut Kid Governor Inauguration

Here at Brian Ambrose Photography we get to be a part of a lot of special moments in our client’s lives. Firstly, we have captured too many couples’ Wedding Day’s to count. Secondly, photographed High School Seniors celebrating the completion of their grade school journey. In addition, we even have the pleasure of seeing people become parents for the first time! Needless to say we have been able to capture some really happy moments.

However, in January we had the privilege of  capturing a new special moment! We had the pleasure of photographing the Connecticut Kid Governor Inauguration Day!

What is the Connecticut Kid Governor?

It is a program that involves fifth graders all around the state. Most importantly the program gives kids first hand insight and experience in learning about state government, elections, and voting.

Students public, private, magnet, charter, and home schools all participate. Fifth graders research community issues they care about, next they create three-point platforms, and finally make campaign videos. Schools run primaries, select nominees, then each school presents a winning candidate to the Statewide Election. After that, in November fifth graders around the state cast their votes and the winning candidate serves one term as the Connecticut Kid Governor!

Inauguration Day 2022

The winning candidate’s hard work is displayed at the Connecticut Kid Governor Inauguration! The 2022 Kid Governor is Makhi Ettienne-Modeste. He is a fifth grader from John F. Kennedy School in Windsor, CT. His platform is protecting our pets! 

The Connecticut Kid Governor Inauguration Day was filled with excitement! On January 21st Makhi & his cabinet (the six runners up of the Kid Governor election) were sworn into office! “The celebration included a formal inauguration ceremony, news conference with Kid Governor Makhi and his Cabinet, and a conversation with elected officials from the three branches of state government. Special guests included: WTNH News 8’s Keith Kountz (emcee), Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Attorney General William Tong, Deputy Secretary of the State Scott Bates, Deputy Commissioner of Education Desi Nesmith, State Representative Jane Garibay, State Representative Tami Zawistowski, Supreme Court Justice Steven Ecker, and retired Supreme Court Justice Dennis Eveleigh.” – The CT Kid Governor Office.

Makhi, his parents, and his sisters smiled from ear to ear the entire Inauguration day! Masks were in place for the event but this fact was abundantly clear even from behind everyone’s masks! The pride Makhi and his family shared for his major accomplishment was contagious! Makhi is certainly an amazingly ambitious young man!
